This
is how infoArchive
powered by
exchange@PAM works.
exchange@PAM constantly
verifies, if e-Mails are being
stored in MS-Exchange-Store, for
which the predefined archiving
rules apply. At what time an
e-Mail is supposed to be archived,
is decided by the administrator,
who determines the archiving
strategy based on intuitive forms.
exchange@PAM pulls a
ready-for-archiving e-Mail from
the MS-Exchange Store and leaves
behind a link in the same spot.
This link is also registered in a
relational database (ORACLE or
MS-SQL Server) and serves as a
reference to the new actual
storage location (storage medium).
The e-Mail itself is being
compressed and saved to the for
this designated storage medium in
order to save additional storage
space.
After archiving, the storage requirements of an e-Mail in MS-Exchange
Store shrink down to 2-5 Kilobyte.

The heart of the DMS solution PAM-STORAGE beats in the exchange@PAM
Server. The therein
integrated HSM Engine (Hierarchical
Storage Management) was
especially developed for
high-volume archiving
processes and has proven
efficiency for more than 15
years with businesses,
managing several millions of
documents per year. |
No
More e-Mail Duplicates
Quite frequently
multiple recipients receive
totally identical messages.
exchange@PAM confronts this waste
of storage space with an
integrated single instance
logic. No matter how many
MS-Exchange Servers are connected
to exchange@PAM. Each e-Mail is
only being archived once. However,
the entire recipient group can
open these messages and
attachments as usual.
PST-Fileimporter
In order to exonerate
the MS-Exchange Store and to make
room for new e-Mails, e-Mails are
often being archived as PST files
on local storage devices. Pretty
risky business, since the entire
responsibility lays in the hands
of the user. Besides, PST files
are limited to 2 GB and known for
their instability.
exchange@PAM eliminates
this risk and allows the
administrator to easily import
existing PST files (including
folder structure) to the e-Mail
archive. The import through
batch-run does not need any
supervision and successful import
is being recorded in detail within
a transaction file.
e-Mail
Lifecycle Management
Due to legally relevant
reasons some e-Mails must be
stored retrievable for many years.
But one day, even those messages
can be definitely deleted. exchange@PAM
recognizes those e-Mails and
deletes them automatically after a
specified time period. So even
inexpensive archive- media are
being used most efficiently.
Automatic
Versioning
If an already archived
e-Mail is being edited, exchange@PAM
recognizes this and stores it as a
new version. Flawless recording
and retrospective verification is
very important especially with
legally relevant e-Mail messages.
OST
Offline Folder Service
In
order to access archived e-Mails
outside the office as well,
exchange@PAM features an Offline
Folder Service. During the
standard synchronization process
e-Mails are being copied to the
Offline Folder, and/or according
synchronization follows.
OWA
MS-Outlook Web Access Service
Of course, archived
e-Mails can be accessed over the
internet as well. Easily and
without modifying any settings.
e-Mail
Quotamanagement
Some businesses run
their computer departments as an
intern profit center and pass on
invoices for services accomplished
after the „polluter pays
principle“. The in exchange@PAM
integrated Quota Management
supports this form of organization
and allows a storage limitation
for the e-Mail archive medium on a
user- and group-level. An
expressive reporting system allows
further processing for all
respective departments.
Full Text Search in Attachments
Additionally the
optional ful-text-search in
attachments can be installed. With
this exchange@PAM extension users
can conduct a full-text-search in
attachment (except picture files)
in order to find e-Mails, which
could not be found otherwise.
MS-Outlook
User Plug-In
If you go for exchange@PAM,
you will also get a Plug-In for
MS-Outlook. This Plug-In allows
users to archive e-Mails at any
time. Independently of which
automatic archiving strategy you
are currently running.
